Veneer

Valley Stonescapes and Masonry specializes in the installation of all types of stone veneer. There are 3 types of stone veneer: Full Size Natural Stone Veneer, Natural Thin Stone Veneer, and Manufactured Stone Veneer. Each type can be installed to exterior and interior structures whether wood or masonry products.

Full Size Natural Stone Veneer:

Full Size Natural Stone Veneer has been installed on homes and businesses for centuries. The individual stone depth is between 3 to 8 inches. Clients and or Architects decide on the depth of the stone. This is usually determined by the details of the structure. Full Size Stone Veneer requires a footer or steel lintel including wall anchors to properly attach it to an exterior or interior structure. Any type of stone can be installed as Full Size veneer. Doggett Mountain Stone, Tennessee Fieldstone, Crab Orchard Split Face, and Hoopers Creek Wall rock are examples of full size stone veneer regularly installed by Valley Stonescapes and Masonry in WNC.

Natural Thin Stone Veneer:

Natural Thin Stone Veneer is either manufactured by stone yard/ quarry companies or is naturally thinner than 2 inches in depth. Stone Yard Companies in and around WNC manufacture the thin stone veneer by cutting the sides or faces off full size stones. This product is very easy to work since it hangs on the structure and usually does not require a footer or steel lintel. The veneer comes in three different shapes; “ledgestone” equaling small squares and rectangles; “ashlar” equaling large squares; and “mosaic” equaling random shapes and sizes. All three shape sizes can be installed as a single style using only one type or mixed using two or three.

Manufactured Stone Veneer:

Manufactured Stone Veneer is a man-made product which looks and feels like stone veneer. It is made from a mixture of cement, aggregate, and iron oxide pigments. It comes in all three of the different shapes listed for Natural Thin Stone Veneer: Ledgestone, Ashlar, and Mosaic. It is often called cultured stone, architectural stone, or faux stone. This type of stone comes in a variety of colors and styles which have characteristics resembling every type of stone found in the US. Valley Stonescapes and Masonry installs all types of cultured stone.
